Where are we going?

After watching Fred Wilson’s talk on disruption today, I drew some interesting connections with Koch’s 80/20 Individual.  The last question in Wilson’s speech on his thoughts of google’s new venture capital arm resonated with Koch’s predictions of corporations funding entrepreneurs within their company for a win win situation where the company remains fresh and innovative, keeps competition under control, and entrepreneurs get funding and support from a larger organization.  In my opinion, public companies are the least innovative places to work because of public scrutiny.  Additionally, it isn’t financially attractive for those individuals who bring in the most revenue to have to hand it all over to the shareholders.  That’s why public companies are kind of at a standstill and need something new to keep up with the emerging privately held startup competition.  I just don’t think it’s natural to be a part of something so big.  Companies should stay as small as possible.  The economy today seems to indicate that the big guys are falling.  Things that have worked for years no longer work and things are shifting towards the individual.
